Rev Dead's October's Horror Flick Countdown!!! 31 Of My Favorites!!! #18 Rob Zombie's Halloween!!

#18 Rob Zombie's Halloween!!

This month we are going to step away from only Zombie stuff, and I am going to give you my Top 31 Horror films (Minus any Zombie Flicks we will have a top ten for that don't worry) And these are my Favorites. I went with a few questions to get this list. One Did I like the film? (bit of a no brainer here) Two, Did I like Film A better than Film B? In other words if both flicks were on or had to decide which one to watch, what would I pick? Three, would I watch it over and over if it were on TV? (even commercial Television) After all this I came up with a list of about 50 Movies and had to cut it down, trying to keep Sequels out, Remakes Out (I do have a couple of Exceptions so don't hold me to it) And I kept Zombie flicks out just for this countdown, to get something a little different for the Month Of October. And these are my best and by no means will they be everyone else's favorites so don't get all artsy fartsy on me and say well you missed this classic of that, I love horror movies and I will probably agree but I liked these more. So just relax and enjoy!!!

#18 Rob Zombie's Halloween!!

I have sort of covered this flick in my My Explanation of the Halloween Timelines!!! post
From that post....Rob Zombies “Reimagining” starts out great he brings Haddonfield up to date (even with the 70’s thing going on it still feels current and new) and shows us why or how Michael Myers became Michael  Myers. From childhood, to Smith's grove to crazy serial killer. The prequel portion I thought was great, although you never really had to know how the transformation took place I think Zombie pulled it off. I liked the back story, how he grew up around an essentially fucked up family and we see he is already killing animals before he takes the next step. We see this little boy get lost and become a monster. He also made Myers fucking scary as shit using 6 foot 9 former pro wrestler Tyler Mane as Michael  Myers and making him an imposing figure on screen. I think he did a fantastic job on a remake of one of my all time favorites. You could even take the prequel portion of this stick it in front of John Carpenter's Halloween and follow the Jamie Lee Story line

Also this is a remake yes, but I think for the most part (at least the Prequel part) it was original so it is an exception to the rule..
