My Explanation of the Halloween Timelines!!!

I love the Halloween Movies, the whole series. If you have watched the series you could say the story line is jacked and discombobulated, but if you break it down, you really have a few different time lines, sort of like Back To The Future, you know the way the Time line skewed and Biff became the richest asshole in the world? So here is my explanation of the way I watch the Halloween films.

Timeline 1 Or the Jamie Lee Story line

Of course this starts with John Carpenter’s original Halloween
Laurie Strode Jamie Lee Curtis is the babysitter and Michael Myers escapes from the Smith's Grove hospital to come back and terrorize Haddonfield. We soon find out that Myers is Laurie Strodes brother (mostly due to the making of the sequel. Then we go right into Halloween Part 2 and pick up where we left off. Now this story line skews into 2 different directions (this one and the Danielle Harris Story Line, but we will get to that soon) Staying true to the Jamie Lee theme we skip ahead to Halloween H20. Where Laurie has had a son and is now hiding out as a Dean at a private school, in California. Well you can’t hide from Michael Myers and soon he catches up with them and continues his slashing, killing and mayhem. The Jamie Lee Story line concludes with Resurrection.  Laurie had been committed to a Psychiatric hospital and Myers finally gets her. Then Busta Rymes trying to make a fortune in the reality TV market has a group of kids stay the night in the Myers house. Well Michael does not like house guests and starts killing. I do want to say Busta Rymes Kung fu’ing  Michael Myers is the most ridiculous and embarrassing scene in the whole series, but the movie itself was something different than the previous sequels you have to give that to them.

Timeline 2 the Danielle Harris StoryLine

If we pick up from Halloween 2 again and then skip to Part 4 The Return Of Michael Myers, we See Laurie Strode had a daughter Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris) Michael of course can’t have that shit going on so he begins stalking her now. This story line flows over three films Part 5 The Revenge of Michael  Myers  and Part 6 The Curse of Michael  Myers, which tries to explain in a supernatural way why Michael  is the way he is. It is also the end of Danielle Harris as another actress J.C. Brandy takes over the Jamie Lloyd part and is Killed off within the first 15 minutes of the film.  This story line in itself is still pretty good I liked parts 4 and 5, I can usually do without part 6 but If I am doing the whole Halloween marathon thing I can stomach it.

Timeline 3 Season Of The Witch Storyline

Part 3 Season of the Witch, could have been just that, a film called Season Of the Witch. It is a stand alone flick,  Moustapha Akkad wanted Halloween to be sort of a banner  for what could be numerous films over the years, with diferent story lines. This one fell flat mostly because people wanted more Michael Myers. But it was a good film for the time. Silver Shamrock makes these great, must have masks for Halloween. The kids all want them, but little do they know a crazy toymaker plans on using the masks and an ancient Celtic ritual to kill all the children wearing the masks on Halloween. It is a decent movie and if you look at it as just that, a fun Halloween flick, forget about Michael  Myers it is a lot better.

Timeline 4 The Rob Zombie Storyline

Rob Zombies “Reimagining” starts out great he brings Haddonfield up to date (even with the 70’s thing going on it still feels current and new) and shows us why or how Michael Myers became Michael  Myers. From childhood, to Smith's grove to crazy serial killer. The prequel portion I thought was great, although you never really had to know how the transformation took place I think Zombie pulled it off. I liked the back story, how he grew up around an essentially fucked up family and we see he is already killing animals before he takes the next step. We see this little boy get lost and become a monster. He also made Myers fucking scary as shit using 6 foot 9 former pro wrestler Tyler Mane as Michael  Myers and making him an imposing figure on screen. I think he did a fantastic job on a remake of one of my all time favorites. You could even take the prequel portion of this stick it in front of John Carpenter's Halloween and follow the Jamie Lee Story line, but that is getting a bit crazy..

Then came part 2. (I do think the poster is bad ass)

I think it would have been good without the trippy horse sequences. I get it we are trying to see through Michael's eyes and all that, but it took me out of the film. Still decent just not as good as part one in my eyes. To me I kind of feel Rob got pushed into making part 2, because I think he is a great filmmaker, but part 2 just seems to fall a bit flat for me.

So there you have it. If you just break down the Halloween series into different time lines you can watch them in separate pieces and enjoy them still or you can say this shit is way too complicated, and stupid and just take them for what they are A fun trip through Haddonfield Illinois as Michael  Myers slashes and rips apart it’s citizens…Happy Halloween!!!
