In Today's a Zombie History we wanted to look back at some memorable Zombies. The first is "Tarman" from Return of the Living Dead. You may just remember him as the slimy Zombie who said "BRAINS!" and "MORE BRAINS!"
A Side Note, the cemetery in Return is called "Resurrection Cemetery". Also the Executive Producers on the film tried to get Romero to produce the film. He never returned the calls. The two heroes of the film were named Burt and Ernie. It was not intentional says Dan O'Bannon
Next is the little girl Karen in 1968's Night of The Living Dead.
I think little kid Zombies are just creepy, so that is what makes her a memorable Zombie
In Night Of the Living Dead the Cooper family was actually played by part of a real life family. The Dad Harry Cooper was played by Karl Hardman and Karen was played by Kyra Schon his real life daughter.
We all know the Resident Evil films by now but a memorable character came in the form of an animal.
The Crows in Extinction brought me back to Hitchcock's The Birds. But these birds took it to a whole new Zombie Level.
The Crow scenes was an homage to Alfred Hitchcocks's famous film, The Birds
If you know Zombie films you know Day of The Dead and of course Bub
Bub was the "smart" Zombie who could learn in the original Film
The book the doctor gives Bub is Salem's Lot by Stephen King. King is a long time friend of George Romero and they have worked on films such as Creepshow together
The fat lady Zombie from 2004's Dawn of The Dead Remake
One of the stores in the 2004 version "Gaylen Ross" one of the stores in the mall, is actually the actress who played Fran in the original film
From Zombie Strippers...Well the Strippers! They are hilarious kind of a mix of your everyday Zombie with a touch of Evil Dead. And have more issues than your usual brand of stripper!!
From IMDB.com a little trivia.... When the doctor at
the start of the film is looking at the zombies he says "behold a
pale horse" this is a line from the book of Revelation also spoken
in the 'Johnny Cash' song 'The Man Comes Around' which is
used at the start of another Zombie film: Dawn of the Dead.
And finally this bastard...
Yep! if you have read this blog for a while I hate clowns and Zombie Clowns makes it both worse and better. Worse because now they are just the creepy fucks I always knew they were and better because they are Zombies I can now shoot them in the face. Anyway Zombieland's Zombie Clown is memorable because it is the stuff that exists in My Nightmares..
The film was originally meant for television as a pilot, and the Zombie Kill of the week that was in the film...
Was going to be a weekly segment if the film was made as a television series...Sounds like a good idea for a blog entry...hint hint!
